I.Basic Information

The School of Economics and Management traces its origin back to the Department of Economic Management founded in 1983. As a key secondary academic unit of the university, the School is dedicated to education and research in economics and management. Over the past four decades, it has upheld the university motto “Unity of Knowledge and Action; Pursuit of Practicality and Excellence” and the School’s values “Serving the Nation and Managing with Wisdom”, while fostering the spirit of “Enduring Hardship and Embracing the Future.” Leveraging its strategic location in Ningbo, the School has trained more than 10,000 high-level professionals.

Relying on three primary disciplines—Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration, and Applied Economics—the School offers seven full-time undergraduate programs (Logistics Management, Logistics Engineering, Accounting, International Economics and Trade, Marketing, International Business, and E-commerce) and hosts a professional master’s degree program in Engineering Management (co-established with the School of Construction and Transportation).

The School currently employs over 100 staff members, including more than 70 full-time faculty members, among whom are 15 professors, 24 associate professors, and over 40 PhD holders. It has more than 2,800 full-time undergraduate students and over 80 international students. The faculty includes recipients of the Zhejiang “Thousand Talents Program,” the Zhejiang 151 Talent Program, Zhejiang Teaching Masters, and Ningbo Leading and Distinguished Talent titles.

II.Teaching

According to its 14th Five-Year Development Plan, the School is positioned as an application-oriented institute with Management Science and Engineering as its core discipline, complemented by Business Administration and Applied Economics. It aims to build an integrated framework combining industry, education, research, and innovation. Centering on high-quality undergraduate education, the School actively advances professional postgraduate education to establish a multi-tier talent cultivation system that serves Ningbo and the Yangtze River Delta region.

In recent years, the School has made notable progress in discipline development, program construction, laboratory enhancement, and talent cultivation by adhering to its objectives of becoming a “high-level application-oriented school” and implementing its “dual-priority strategy” in academic development and governance optimization.

III. Research

The discipline of Management Science and Engineering has been recognized as a Class-B First-Class Discipline of Zhejiang Province and an A-level Key Discipline of Ningbo.
