With the goal of building applied science and supporting the arts of industry, economics and management, the College of Science has three secondary disciplines: applied statistics, data mining and applied mathematics. Among them, applied statistics and data mining are the key disciplines. Three undergraduate majors, namely Information and Computational Science, Applied Statistics and Financial Engineering, were set up under the support of the three disciplines. The major of Information and Computational Science began enrollment in 2007 and completed the construction of key majors at the university level in 2011. The financial engineering department was declared in 2012 and began enrollment in 2013.

By September 2018, the college had 47 full-time teachers, including 5 professors, 11 associate professors, 28 doctors and 847 students. The total value of the existing experimental equipment is 5.3 million yuan, the experimental site is 930 square meters, and the professional counterparts have established a number of stable professional practice bases outside the school.

After ten years of professional layout and school running, the college has gradually formed the training mode of "science in and out of work, three abilities in coordination", "science in and out of work", that is, "science applied, theory teaching case-based, practical teaching engineering", "three abilities" that is, the three major students should have "number" Learning modeling ability, data mining ability and software programming ability. In 2016, the College started from the training needs of large data of national strategic emerging industries, developed large data new subjects on the basis of existing science disciplines, and trained large data talents with multi-disciplinary cross-competence, which laid a foundation for local colleges and universities to base themselves on local conditions, serve local conditions and integrate into regional economic and social construction. It is the active response of local universities to the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation.
