The School of Civil and Transportation Engineering currently has six undergraduate majors. Civil engineering major which is the national-level characteristic construction major ,has passed the professional evaluation of the civil engineering professional education evaluation committee of the national colleges and universities in 2015. Traffic engineering major which is characteristic construction major of Zhejiang Province,has passed the master's degree German ASIIN certification in 2015.Architecture major which is characteristic construction major of Ningbo,is the first batch of CDIO engineering education model pilot of the Ministry of Education.Building environment and energy application engineering major is advantage major of Ningbo,and emerging characteristic construction major of Zhejiang Province, and engineering management major is school-enterprise cooperation talent training base of Ningbo.
The School of Civil and Transportation Engineering has 90 full-time teachers, including 10 professors, 29 associate professors and 39 doctors, and the School has more than 1,800 students, and more than 20 experts and scholars as visiting professors.The School currently has professional laboratories such as Construction Engineering Experimental Center, Mechanics Experimental Center, Energy Conservation Engineering Center and Urban Traffic Experiment Center, and the School has multiple subject platforms ,such as Ningbo Smart Transportation Collaborative Innovation Center, Ningbo Engineering Structure Industrialization Construction ,Use and Maintenance Collaborative Innovation Center, Soft Soil Experimental Center of Ningbo University of Technology of National Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering Key Laboratory, Provincial Academician Workstation-Zhou Xuhong Academician Studio,Bridge Engineering Innovation Team
of Ningbo,and Zhejiang Province Civil Engineering Industrialization Construction Engineering Technology Research Center, etc. . The school currently has 2 provincial first-level key disciplines, 2 municipal key laboratories, 2 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 1 provincial engineering center. The affiliated enterprises of the school have architectural design institutes, supervision companies, and transportation design institutes,testing companies and other units.The school has undertaken more than 30 national, provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological projects. The research results which has completed by school in Hangzhou Bay Bridge have won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and our project“Constructing a platform for connecting industry ,university and research in civil engineering discipline, and serving major urban construction projects " has won the first prize of education service local economic contribution issued by the Ningbo Municipal People's Government.
The school has extensively carried out foreign cooperation, learnt
from foreign advanced experience and strengthened export-oriented school characteristics. Our teachers are encouraged to participate in the business training of internationally renowned universities. In the past three years, seven young teachers from our school have visited abroad universities. The school has 3+2 undergraduate double degree programs with the universities of Coventry University, UK and Bulgarian National Transportation University in civil engineering and transportation engineering. In 2018, it hosted the first "Ningbo,China-Central and Eastern Europe Infrastructure Education and Investment Cooperation Forum" and established the "China-Central and Eastern European Urban Infrastructure Construction and Investment Research Center". In order to continue to expand the international education and teaching career, in 2014,civil engineering major began to recruit overseas students, and currently there are 34 international students in the school.
The school highlights talent training requirements of “practicing engineer”, strengthens talent training concept of “production and education integration”, and trains outstanding students through multiple channels and platforms. In the past three years,in our students there have been more than 90 students communicating and exchanging exchanges to home and abroad universities.Our students have received 13 national innovation and entrepreneurship training programs for college students, and 18 provincial science and technology innovation projects for college students.Our students have 55 published academic papers at the first author. Over the years,our students have won many successes in national and provincial discipline competitions, their provincial structural design competitions have won multiple prizes of the national structural design competitions,and their total scores are on the top of provincial universities. In the school, there is a “Luban Workshop” ,with “Luban Innovation Lab” and “Luban Entrepreneurship Studio”. The innovation laboratory is managed by students independently, and students can carry out independent design experiments in science and technology projects. The entrepreneurial studio cultivates twelve studios all the year round, and has currently registered two students’companies. In addition, the school also establishes “Fenghua Academy” to provide students with rich extracurricular activities,such as humanities, chinese studies, paintings and calligraphy ,to enhance students overall quality. In 2017, entrances examination rate of the school reached more than 17%.The school has obtained advanced unit for employment for many years.
