I.Basic Information

Established in March 2022, the School of Cyber Science and Engineering at Ningbo University of Technology aligns with the national major strategy for digital economy development and focuses on meeting the talent demands of Ningbo's trillion-yuan digital industry. Currently, the school offers five undergraduate programs, namely Computer Science and Technology, Network Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Cyberspace Security, and Cryptography Science and Technology, with over 1400 students. Among these programs, the Computer Science and Technology program, established in 1984, was selected as one of the first pilot programs for the Ministry of Education's “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program” in 2010. It passed the national engineering education professional accreditation in 2019, and was designated as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program construction site in 2021.

II.Teaching

The school leverages platforms such as the China-Mozambique "Smart Agriculture" Belt and Road Joint Laboratory, Ningbo Key Laboratory of Information Innovation Security (Category A), and Ningbo's Advantageous & Characteristic Disciplines, to focus on building two primary disciplines: Computer Science and Technology, and Cyberspace Security. Adhering to a “student-centered” educational philosophy, the school has constructed a six-tier practical teaching system and established multiple practical teaching platforms, including a National Engineering Practice Education Center and a Provincial-level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Higher Education Institutions.

III.Faculty

The school has 60 full-time faculty members, among whom 42% hold senior professional titles and 65% possess doctoral degrees. Part-time faculty include one Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and one Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The school boasts one provincial-level teaching team, one provincial-level Teaching Master, one recipient of the Provincial Outstanding Youth Fund, five individuals recognized by provincial-level talent programs, one Ningbo Expert with Outstanding Contributions, and seven individuals recognized by municipal-level talent programs.

IV. Research

In recent years, the school has undertaken more than 50 research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Zhejiang Provincial Outstanding Youth Science Foundation. It has also participated in research initiatives such as the National Key R&D Programs and Ningbo’s Major Scientific and Technological Research program. The school has won awards including the Zhejiang Natural Science Award, Ningbo Science and Technology Award, Ningbo Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award, and Party and Government Confidential Cryptography Science and Technology Award. Faculty members have published nearly 100 high-level academic papers, of which over 20 appear in top-tier journals such as IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TCSVT, IEEE TMM, IEEE TMI, IEEE TCC, and IEEE TCOM. Additionally, the school has obtained over 100 intellectual property rights, including national invention patents, utility model patents, and software copyrights.

V. Student Development

The school has built an integrated education system of “Learning-Competition-Research-Application”, deeply incorporating disciplinary competitions, research training, and practical exercises into the talent development process. In recent years, students of the school have won more than 300 awards in disciplinary competitions at or above the provincial-level. They have participated in “Cyber Protection” operations across multiple provinces and cities, honing their ability to solve complex problems in both simulated and real-world scenarios.
