The School of Marxism at Ningbo University of Technology was established in 2017, evolving from the former Department of Social Sciences. It is primarily responsible for teaching Marxist theory and ideological and political education across the university, as well as conducting theoretical research in these fields. The School currently has 4 professors, 7 associate professors, and 25 doctoral degree holders.

The School has steadfastly leveraged Party building to steer its development, earning recognition as a "National Model Party Branch" incubatee and the "Zhejiang 'Double-Leader' Teacher Party Branch Action Team." Multiple faculty have been named Provincial or Municipal "Outstanding Communist Party Members." Through partnerships with Yuyao city in Zhejiang province and the Beilun Red Collar Home Social Service Center, it has built practice bases and contributes to local socio-economic development via expert lectures, field research, and red resources utilization.
Teaching quality is listed at the heart of the School's mission. 7 teaching-and-research offices—Basic Principles of Marxism, Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought and the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Outline of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History, Ideology, Morality and the Rule of Law, Engineering Ethics, and Situation and Policy—offer a coordinated curriculum that has recently earned one national teaching-competition award and eight provincial or ministerial teaching prizes. Two faculty members have been named "Excellent Teachers of Ideological-Political Courses" in Zhejiang, and one provincial "Famous-Teacher Studio for Ideological and Political Education" has been set up. The School runs eight provincial first-class courses and co-sponsors one national first-class course, while student teams it supervises have repeatedly won top prizes in the "Red Special Project" of the Challenge Cup and the "Karl Marx Cup" at both national and provincial levels. These achievements have been featured in Guangming Daily, People's Daily, China Education Daily and CCTV's "News Network".

The School has consistently strengthened its disciplinary and research development, integrating theoretical inquiry with practical application. It manages 4 key platforms at provincial and municipal levels, including the Zhejiang Red Culture Promotion Base and Ningbo's research centers on Red Culture, Marxist Cultural Communication, and Urban-Rural Integration.
Through academic workshops, research teams, and mentorship programs, the School enhances faculty research capabilities and community engagement. Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, faculty have secured 4 National Social Science Fund projects and 23 provincial-level research grants, producing 6 monographs, 14 textbooks, and nearly 90 academic papers. Their accomplishments have earned them two ministerial-provincial awards. One of their works has also received the distinction of being selected for the Ministry of Education's prestigious Ideological and Political Work Research Collection.
Looking ahead, the School will continue to be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, remain true to the original aspiration of "cultivating talents for the Party and the country", and uphold the university motto of "Integration of Knowledge and Practice" together with the spirit of "Emphasizing Practice and Seeking Excellence" in its drive to become a nationally recognized highland for training applied Marxist talents in the new era.
