The opening ceremony for the 2nd China study tour group from Wayne State University (WSU) of the United States was held on the morning of June 3. Chen Zhirong, Vice President of Ningbo University of Technology (NBUT), Keith Whitfield, Interim Provost of Wayne State University, and officials from Ningbo Foreign Affairs Office attended the event.

NBUT and WSU have maintained stable cooperation since 2012. Notably, their joint program of Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation obtained ABET international accreditation in 2025, a milestone of the bilateral educational collaboration.
Representatives from Wayne State University delivered congratulatory remarks via video. They spoke highly of the fruitful cooperation in engineering education and announced their attendance at the graduation ceremony of the joint mechanical engineering program this year.
This 8-day study tour features science, technology and cultural experience. Participants will visit advanced laboratories and local innovative enterprises to learn about the intelligent manufacturing industry in China. They will also experience traditional Chinese culture including traditional Chinese medicine and tea art.

Students from Wayne State University expressed great expectations for the academic exchanges and cultural exploration during the program.
